Problem statement

iPlayer was scheduled to have a backend system transformation, which presented an opportunity to implement an updated UX, visual and interaction solution. With the increase usage of online viewing and decreasing user activity with offline viewing a new experience for online live TV viewing was needed.

Creating a Different Solutions

Various high-fi design solutions were created focusing on different key aspects. The various designs would be tested to find which solution is more desired by our users.

User testing took place with the various design solution to find out which one is more desired and easy enough for all our user types to use.

From the testing we found the best solution to take forward for development. We have broken down the features and each one will be rolled out in different phases to create a smooth transition for the users.

While working on this project is was interesting how to create a live TV experience on a digital platform, but remembering what makes live TV interesting for users who come an analogue background.
